TRANSPORT:

Flights inter-island are cheap and easy to get, buses are a little more complex and can be difficult without local language skills.  Taxis and private cars with drivers are plentiful.

Planning

Weather is almost entirely tropical and has 2 seasons, wet and dry.  Temperatures usually hover around 28C all year round. In the majority of the country the wet season is from November to March and the dry from April to October.  Micro climates occur across the region.

Packing:  
As in many tropical climates the best clothing is layered to cater for cooler nights without adding bulk to your bag.  Always make sure you have appropriate clothing for the region, ie trousers and shirts with sleeves is going to temples and other sacred places.

Basic Double Beds with air cond from 200K IDR
Mid range Double from 400K IDR
Luxury upwards of 800 IDR

Stalls from 20K for basic dish
Local restaurants 60K on average, dependant on area

Car hire – 70K per day (but rethink your need to drive yourself)
