About Us

Both of us have always loved travelling. Steve started by setting out on the hippie trail at age 21 going to Afghanistan.  For myself I travelled a lot with my parents from an early age going all over Europe. When I left home I continued travelling on my own, mainly in Asia 40 years ago – it has definitely changed a lot. We had a longish break from travel when our family was growing but as they got older (and we had more money). Then we started to travel again and once on our own it became even easier. Over the years we have been to some amazing places, but we have always wanted to stay longer and go further.  Now with retirement looming this is the time for planning and action.

THE BLOG

This blog is not just for retire’s it is for anyone who loves travel. Some of the places we stay are very cheap places and some mid range – our accommodation choices are not high end, but not the bottom either.  On occasion though we do splurge on higher end places, usually due to specific locations. Our plan is to give you costings and ideas of what is worthwhile and what is not. In the main we love nature and are not big city or crowded places type of people. Do you love wildlife and nature, then our information will be invaluable to you. But if big cities and people are your thing then our site may not suit you. This blog will start with some posts from our last few trips. Not all the same information that will be included going forward (as I had not thought to keep it). Hopefully you will find them interesting anyway. If you like anything you read please share – we do hope to make a little pocket money from this blog. So if we do we will share what worked and what did not.
