Middle east
The Middle East
Much of the area is usually only somewhere visited on a passing flight. Many people never alight and explore the area for various reasons. We look into why you might want to make a stop if only for the photographic opportunities. The Middle East includes Western Asia and all of Egypt and Turkey which are the more commonly visited destinations within the middle east. There are actually 18 countries including the island of Cyprus. The largest city is Cairo and the least visited is Afghanistan. Pick a country and google the images, you will be surprised that even if you think you know a lot there are so many interesting places you can find out about. If you like the photos that is a good place to start planning a trip to.
PHOTOGRAPHIC SUGGESTIONS
Look out for the unusual. Less visited areas offer great opportunity to find a different angle and a unique photograph. Get off the beaten track, find another viewpoint, get away from the crowds. The best way to achieve this is not to travel on a tour. As an independent traveller you have a choice of the time you visit an area, the time you spend there and the specific angles of view you can achieve. If you are herded along in a tour this can be very difficult to do.
Spend a day before taking any photos finding the best light, angle, time of day for your specific shot. Then go back with that knowledge and get that photo.
Take photos of areas, people, your accommodation. Remember your memory is not infallible. Show the crowds, the lack of crowds, the rubbish or cleanliness. Show beauty or ugliness, built up or pristine areas. Whatever stands out to you is what you should record.
Think desert and reef, the variety is there to fill an album of vast sand dunes, underwater marvels, beaches and old structures. Have fun with it.
