South Australia is a situated in the South Central part of Australia. The majority is dry arid land with plenty of coastline. It is the 4th largest of the states and territories in terms of area.
There is plenty to see and do, including the Flinders Ranges, Wildlife of Kangaroo Island, Wineries and Scenic drives.

Safety: Travelling in South Australia is relatively safe but like most western countries observe caution with Pin numbers and unattended drinks. By far the most dangerous is wildlife on the roads if driving at dawn and dusk. In outback SA there is always a risk of bush fires, plan ahead and observe the current rules and restrictions.
TRANSPORT:
Flights are by far the quickest way between major capital cities but can add up the cost quickly.
Trains are fairly cheap but with limited routes.
Buses are cheap but slow on local routes. Long distance buses are a good option for 1, but expensive if you are a group.
Car hire or purchase is by far the best way to see all the area has to offer.
Outback Travel would suggest 4WD hire.

The South Australian climate is considered to be Mediterranean with hot dry summers and cool mild wet winters. Kangaroo Island has mild temperate weather with warm dry summers and cool but frequently sunny winter days.
The daytime temperatures have a large range in the south
Winter (June to August) average 15C
Summer (December to February) average 28C but can reach 40 degrees.
To the North it is hotter and dryer all year round.
Packing:
Pack for all seasons. Layering is best as in summer there can be a 20C change in temperature from one day to the next. Casual clothing with one smart outfit for nights out. Plenty of beachwear advised.
